The facility, known as DC6, features 1,750 cabinets, and will help the company add to its current roster of more than 500 area clients. "As the economy continues to globalize, the Washington, DC metro area increases in strategic importance," said Peter Ferris, the president of Equinix North America. "The region serves as the main hub for inbound and outbound traffic and is a crucial component of any global expansion plan." Introduced by Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), chair of the committee, the Internet Gambling Regulation and Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act was approved, 41-22. The bill would regulate online gambling, and require licensed operators to install safeguards against underage and problem gambling. Proponents say that regulated Internet gambling could generate as much as $42 billion in federal revenue over its first 10 years. A companion bill introduced by Rep. "Such an extreme finding that produced a zero response underscores the difficulty of getting Internet users to pay for anything that they already receive for free," said Jeffrey Cole, director of the Center for Digital Future at USC's Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism. "Twitter has no plans to charge its users, but this result illustrates, beyond any doubt, the tremendous problem of transforming free users into paying users." The survey of 1,981 Internet users also found that half "never" click on web advertising, with 70% saying they find it "annoying."
