RedSky IT Hospitality-Travel makes software targeting independent and economy hotels, while RedSky IT Retail makes management and supply chain software for the food and retail markets. Tom Giannopoulos, the president and CEO of Micros Systems, said the acquisition gives his company "a complementary set of products and allows us to expand our customer footprint." http://www.micros.com/CompanyInformation/News/PressReleases/13007RedskyIT.htm _____________________________________________ o Based AOL Sees 41% Jump in Ad Revenue in 2006 Dulles, Va. -- Despite losing a large portion of its subscriber base, Dulles-based AOL saw its advertising revenue jump 41% last year, Time Warner said on Wednesday. AOL, which in August decided to give away its core Internet content for free in an effort to lure more online ads, brought in $548 million in ad revenue by increasing its display, paid-search and third-party advertising. That helped to offset a 14% decrease in subscription revenue, though the unit still finished with slightly lower revenue than 2005. Dick Parsons, the chairman and CEO of Time Warner, said that one of the media giant's main goals in 2007 will be "further developing AOL's online advertising business." Ross Perot, said that it has completed its $250 million cash acquisition of Lanham-based QSS Group, a provider of if IT services to the federal government. The deal was first announced in mid-December. Perot said that the acquisition gives it several significant government-wide acquisition contracts, and also expands both the scope of services and the areas that it serves within the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense. O’Neill told the audience that a top issue the United States must contend with is increasing its supply of intellectual capital, which he described as the "commodity of our age." To remain competitive against growing powers like China and India, he called on the country to make greater investments in math, science, technology and engineering education. Intersouth Partners also participated in the round. As part of the financing, William Dunbar of Core Capital will join the company's board of directors. The company said that it will use the new capital to accelerate its research and development efforts, as well as expand its marketing and sales activities. 6th Sense's clients include CoreObjects, Defywire, GXS and iconoculture. The latest deal extends the current partnership between XM and Toyota through 2017. XM is the factory-installed satellite radio provider for Toyota and Lexus vehicle models.
